The other teams competing for this prestigious cup were Bradford on Avon and Hamptworth It was yet another warm dry day and the ground was fairly brown and therefore very fast. Tisbury triumphs in our last GC High Handicap match against Dowlish Wake
A pensive moment deciding tactics during a game of doubles We welcomed a team of five from Dowlish Wake which was the last of the High Handicap League matches for the season for us. It was a warm and blustery day but our gazebo survived lashed to the fence. David Morley, the Tisbury chairman, acted as referee and was called on several occasions to resolve possible potential faults. There were a couple of scoring problems but with the help of the SWF League Secretary the match

Tisbury's Internal Short Croquet Tournament on Friday 31st July 2026
Lawrie Webster This happened on one of Tisbury’s hottest days. Six members showed up for a super competitive tournament. We were missing two people due to personal reasons, but fingers crossed, we'll have all eight next month. The day featured three rounds of three games, each lasting 80 minutes. We wrapped up the results at the end of round three while enjoying a tasty tea with Bakewell Tart and Apple Tart, both with cream. Shoutout to Laurie, our enthusiastic nonagenarian,

It was more a game of luck than skill. The home team managed to win conclusively. Due to the tricky conditions, getting a ball through a hoop w

Caught napping!
Hard work for the referee, Brian Wilson, from the South West Federation! Tisbury enjoyed hosting the Winterborne Valley Croquet Club for a GC High Handicap match on a scorching Thursday, 16th July. Despite the final results, every game was fiercely contested. Congratulations to our team: Peter Coopman, Ian Kent Robinson, Sarah Vigors, Sye Philbrick, and Patricia Coopman.

A challenging tournament for the Jonathan Wolfe cup at Taunton Deane on the 8th July 2026
Our team: Jan Kot, Clive Camp, Dave Honour and David Morley Upon our arrival, we were immediately aware of the challenging trial ahead. The weather was already hot at 09:30am and, despite being forewarned of these conditions, we were struck by the sight of the lawns which were completely parched with not a single green blade of grass. By the middle of the afternoon, the lawn temperature soared to 40 degrees centigrade and we were asked if we wanted to continue. While some dec
