Man of the Match!

On Tuesday 29th September the final of the Internal GC Tournament for the Gold Cup took place. Sixteen members entered the competition over the last two months and just three had won all of their matches so a play-off was needed to decide the winner.

Advantage scoring based on handicaps was used throughout the competition. The atmosphere for the final was very good natured but tense and competitive. The first match between Sye and Sarah was close with Sarah winning by a narrow margin. Jenny was defeated by Sye in the second match despite having posted two of her balls through the hoops! Jenny beat Sarah in the final round so that meant that each competitor had won a match and the winner had to be decided by the percentage of hoops each loser had scored and we waited with baited breath while the two dedicated referees, David and Patricia, calculated the winning score.

Sye was eventually declared the winner and awarded the Gold Cup! After the presentation we retired to the clubhouse to celebrate with Sye's now renowned delicious home-made chocolate and orange cake!
