A successful challenge at a one day Short Croquet competition in Hamptworth on 30th June 2026.
There were ten individual entries, with four participants from Tisbury. The weather featured a mix of hot sun and clouds, accompanied by a refreshing breeze. The lawns were cut short and were quite dry with some bare patches that presented a challenge. The day was originally planned for five rounds of 80 minutes each. GC High Handicap match at Winterborne Valley
We didn't win but we're getting better! The results do not really reflect the games we played. We may not have won but everyone played well and seemed to enjoy themselves. Everyone was happy with the new handicaps. I think the penny has now dropped that having a low handicap is not necessarily a good thing in match play! Evening mix in and impromptu supper
Croquet on a glorious summer evening Croquet, sunshine and an impromptu supper — Thursday evenings don’t get much better. We held a GC mix-in and an al fresco supper and it was such a lovely, relaxed night. Big thanks to Sarah and Anna for the suggestion — looks like Thursday evenings might become a new summer tradition!

Short Croquet match against Kington Langley on 20th May
At the end of the day it was 10:6 to Kington Langley. We were level pegging at lunch but then collapsed in the third session and drew in the fourth. Perhaps we had too good a lunch and too many tarts for tea!

We've entered the GC High Handicap League for the first time!
We took advantage of a very brief sunny moment at Dowlish Wake to photograph our gallant team! Our first Short Croquet Club match of the season
