We won the Willtshire Short Croquet Trophy Competition at Kington Langley on 5th August 2026!

We were hosted by Kington Langley Croquet Club. The other teams competing for this prestigious cup

were Bradford on Avon and Hamptworth It was yet another warm dry day and the ground was fairly brown and therefore very fast.  Kington Langley have four lawns, one of which is being watered daily in rotation.  The club facilities are limited and it is without electricity. We had to make use of the village hall which is roughly 300 yards away.

The morning went well for Tisbury and by lunch time everyone was surprised to find that Tisbury were in the lead but, after lunch, our chances began to slip away as in Round 3 Bradford on Avon began to do well. However, in the fourth round our fortunes changed again when we were drawn to play Bradford on Avon. The result depended on the Tisbury team members winning their final games and, with grim determination and concentration, we did it and thus the cup was ours!

We finished the day with a delicious tea of cakes and biscuits. Tea and coffee were brewed on a camping stove which tasted all the better for it!
