In only its third year as a registered Club, Tisbury has just received Croquet England’s prestigious Apps Heley 2025 Award in recognition of their major achievement of creating a centre of excellence for croquet. The UK Croquet England’s Apps Heley Award is presented to a Croquet Club, formed within the last five years who, in the opinion of the selectors, has created the most worthy and effective facility to promote and practice all forms of croquet within a defined catchment area. This year’s winners, Tisbury Croquet Club, were found to have used impressive levels of initiative and innovation to raise over £30,000 to re-purpose, a failing Bowls Club on the Wiltshire Dorset border thereby creating a thriving centre for croquet.
With excellent support and assistance from within Croquet England, work on the necessary infrastructure of the Club was carried out in parallel with generating and improving skill-levels amongst its growing membership. The continuing programme of coaching and friendly competition is showing real progress amongst members who recently won their first South West Federation competition, coming a close second in another.
