Upon our arrival, we were immediately aware of the challenging trial ahead. The weather was already hot at 09:30am and, despite being forewarned of these conditions, we were struck by the sight of the lawns which were completely parched with not a single green blade of grass. By the middle of the afternoon, the lawn temperature soared to 40 degrees centigrade and we were asked if we wanted to continue. While some decided to stop, the stalwarts of Tisbury pressed on and competed in the 4th round. With the dry and unforgiving condition of the lawns, not a single player managed to score more than 10 hoops in an entire game. In one game, it took an hour just to make the first hoop!

In the end, the home team, Taunton Deane, dominated and won the trophy. Bristol and Budleigh were equal second. The individual winner was Martin Wicks of Taunton Deane.
